Lee’s Summit, Missouri based Abundant Life leadership team’s vision is to be living proof of a loving God to a watching world. With the completion of a large worship center building construction project in the fall of 2015, their land utilization at that location has been maximized. Remaining true to their vision, they turned their focus to a Multiplication ministry model. By multiplying in various communities, the church could continue to grow the Kingdom and change more lives.
Abundant Life identified Blue Springs, Missouri as a growing and underserved area where they could make a difference. The church selected their long-term partner Mantel Teter Architects to help them identify a location that would be a good value and ensure long-term success. It was decided at the onset that the most impactful use of the church’s ministry dollars would be to renovate an existing structure rather than shouldering the cost of constructing an exterior building shell and site infrastructure including site grading, stormwater control, utilities, parking and lighting.
Several commercial properties were identified as potential candidates and preliminary designs were created to explore the suitability of each for supporting the church’s ministry. After consideration of various options, the church selected a portion of a highly visible, centrally located, retail strip center building as their second home.
Renovation plans included converting what once was a 27,500 s.f., 2-story gymnasium and health club into a 300-seat Worship Space, Fellowship and Connection Space with Cafe, themed Children’s Check-in and Classrooms areas and Youth, Adult, and Office spaces.
While the church does have a campus pastor and live worship, the Blue Springs campus utilizes a simulcast technology feed to bring their Lee’s Summit Lead Pastor, Phil Hopper, to life on platform each Sunday.
